Reliable shared-container shipping from Perth to Zimbabwe. Published rates, honest timelines, and a WhatsApp update at every step — so you always know where your cargo is
We spoke to dozens of families shipping to Zimbabwe. The same frustrations came up again and again. Here’s our answer to each one.
We started Takura Freight because we’ve lived the frustration ourselves — sending things home and hoping they’d arrive, chasing people who wouldn’t answer, watching family get hit with fees nobody warned them about. We knew it could be done properly: clear prices, honest timelines, and someone who actually picks up the phone. That’s the whole reason Takura exists. When you ship with us, you’re not a tracking number — you’re a neighbour sending something home.We started Takura Freight because we’ve lived the frustration ourselves — sending things home and hoping they’d arrive, chasing people who wouldn’t answer, watching family get hit with fees nobody warned them about. Our honest estimate is 8–10 weeks from the cargo cut-off date to arrival in Zimbabwe, via the Beira corridor. Some operators quote less and deliver far more — we'd rather tell you the truth and work hard to beat it. You'll get a WhatsApp update at every stage, so there's never a silent gap.
Mostly by size. Drums are a fixed size, so they're a fixed price. For boxes, furniture and other items we measure length × width × height to work out the cubic metres, and price on that (weight only matters for very dense goods). Dismantling furniture saves you money.
You send a booking request, we send a written quote, and you secure your space with a deposit once you're happy — the amount is confirmed with your quote. Nothing is locked until you approve it.
Personal and household effects — drums, boxes, furniture, appliances, tools, building materials and bulk groceries. Vehicles come from our third sailing. There's a short list of things we can't ship (dangerous goods, undeclared currency, anything illegal), which we always share upfront.
Our appointed clearing agent manages ZIMRA clearance and guides your family through it. Duties are set by ZIMRA — not by us — and every payment comes with an official receipt. We publish our own receiver charges upfront.
We offer optional all-risks cargo insurance, priced as a small percentage of your declared value — we strongly recommend it. If you decline, goods travel at your own risk beyond our standard liability, which we explain clearly at booking.
